  • Optional. The Contact will be called on this (landline) telephone number, as a regular (audio-only) phone call, if no Skype Name is specified, or if the Contact does not answer on Skype (for example, if the Contact's mobile phone is flat). Please include "+ followed by country code, area code and number (that is, the full international phone number). Do not use the international dialling prefix (do not start with 00 or 011 or 0011, for example; instead, use "+"). After the initial "+", only enter digits (no spaces, brackets or hyphens). • Automatically answer if this Contact calls the Videophone but the Videophone user does not answer or decline the incoming call manually. Useful for trusted family members or care-givers if the Videophone user is ill or has a hearing, mobility or cognitive impairment.
  • The ringing duration before an incoming call is answered automatically. The default is 30 seconds. The practical maximum is 50 seconds because after 55 seconds, the incoming call may time out. We recommend a longer duration in large homes, Care Homes, and for slow walkers. We suggest an extremely short duration for those not in a Care Home who are likely to rush and risk falling.
Please enter a number from 1 to 50.
  • If Hide: There will be no Call Button for this Contact. However, the Videophone will accept incoming calls from this Contact. Useful for professional care providers, overseas contacts, or family members who do not wish to be called. Useful if the user has a cognitive impairment and tends to repetitively presses buttons. (An alternative strategy is to ask the Contact to use Do-Not-Disturb mode to disable Skype during times that the Contact does not wish to be called).

This can help strengthen the memory of faces and names.

The optional Konnekt button calls Support. This can be useful for test calls and to request changes. However, it can be confusing for some.

Remember: You can also contact Konnekt by email, phone, or Skype from any device.

We recommend to start with a Konnekt button and ask us to remove it later.

    Power Outlet Cover

A clear plastic cover that helps prevent the Videophone's power plug from being disconnected from the power outlet.

Available only for delivery in Australia. Konnekt can suggest products for other countries.

Recommended if the user or a cleaner is likely to unplug Videophone and leave it unplugged.

  • DC power extension cable

We recommend to use a regular power extension cord or power board; it is safer, stronger and more resilient. For tight spaces, where absolutely necessary, a DC extension cable can help hide cabling. It extends the cable from the power adapter to the Videophone.

  • Connectivity Options Section Break

  • Connectivity options

Konnekt can deliver Videophone completely pre-configured, ready to connect automatically via Wi-Fi or network cable. What if you move? Videophone's network connection can be changed at any time; follow the simple Quick Start Guide, or contact Konnekt to reconfigure it for you, remotely.

  • Videophone works with any type of Internet including ADSL, Cable, Optical, and mobile (cellular) Internet. Speed must be at least 1.0/0.6 Mbps (Megabits per second) download/upload speed; 1.5/0.7 Mbps recommended. For lip-reading quality, minimum speed is 2.0/2.0 Mbps; 3.0/3.0 recommended. Data requirements will depend upon usage; about 85% of customers use less than 3 GB (GigaBytes) per month; fewer than 5% of customers use over 20 GB per month. If using your own mobile (cellular) Internet, we recommend to initially try a 4-10 GB plan. In Australia, Konnekt-Managed Internet is an extra cost item, except for our 30-day trial, for which Konnekt-Managed Internet can be provided at no extra cost.

  • Calling Options Section Break

  • Calling options

  • Videophone can make unlimited video and audio calls to/from your Contacts on any Skype device worldwide including Smartphones, iPads/tablets and computers. In addition, we provide a subscription for unlimited regular phone calls to telephones in one country. This is useful for calling Contacts on their regular phone numbers (including those that have no Smartphone or computer/tablet on which to run Skype), for calling "backup numbers" (in case a Contact is unavailable on Skype), and for calling services (such as doctor, nurse, care-provider). If you need Videophone to call regular landline phones, please choose which country. If the country does not appear on this list, please ask us.
  • For an extra $22.50 per month, Videophone can call mobile phones in Australia. Please note that if ALL your Contacts with mobile phones put the Skype app on their mobiles, then all calls to mobiles can be Skype-to-Skype and there is no need for this option.
  • For an extra $19.80 per month, Videophone can call landlines in 63 countries and mobile phone numbers in 8 countries. Please ask Konnekt for a list of countries.

  • For an extra AUD $10 per month, Videophone can have its own regular telephone number. This enables landline phones worldwide (and mobile phones without Skype) to call Videophone. (This is sometimes called a Direct-In-Dial Number, Local Number, or Skype Number). Note that mobile phones can call Videophone for free anyway using the Skype app, so this option is NOT required unless the Videophone needs to be dialled from regular telephones.
  • Enter the country (and city or state/province) where you want your Videophone's regular phone number. This is sometimes known as a "Skype Number", "Local Number" or "Direct In Dial Number". for example, if you choose the UK, your Videophone will have a +44 phone number.

  • Sound and hearing options

  • Powered External Speaker

Not needed by users who have typical age-related hearing loss.

Recommended for users who have severe hearing loss, and perhaps for users who forget or refuse to wear their hearing aids.

The external speaker plugs into the Videophone speaker output socket, as well as a Videophone USB socket. It has a volume control and an on/off button. It can be mounted on top of the Videophone frame, facing forward. For users who have a cognitive impairment, you may wish to mount it on the rear kickstand facing backwards so that the controls cannot be seen or accessed. We include instructions for this speaker. There is no extra cost.

  • Ringtone

The ringing sound made by Videophone when there is an incoming call. We suggest a 1920s ringtone for most users. We recommend the bassy Aussie Muted Tones ringtone for those with aged-related hearing loss.

  • The relative volume of the ringtone. We recommend Soft for single-room homes, Normal for small to medium homes, or Loud for large homes. Note that the general volume setting also adjusts the ringtone volume. If unsure, start with Normal.

  • Prevents the user from declining or ending a call. Useful for a few users with cognitive impairment who tend to push any button that they can see.
  • Request custom wording. For example, "Hang up" can be changed to "End call", "No", "Finish" or "Disconnect". Button labels must be short. This can be helpful for users who speak a dialect or users who could benefit from more familiar or simpler wording.

  • Colour scheme

The colour scheme affects buttons and text. We recommend Konnekt Default, carefully chosen because studies show that blue promotes happiness, confidence, calmness and creativity. Select high-contrast Yellow for low vision. For a dark room, we recommend Muted. Green and Blue help you match room décor.

  • The screensaver helps preserve the life of the screen, and is also useful for users who tend to switch appliances off or want to reduce electricity usage. It allows the screen to go completely dark (blank) after a period of inactivity. Touching the screen, or receiving an incoming call, will instantly wake up Videophone.
  • The duration of inactivity (in seconds) before the screensaver starts. Default: 180 seconds (3 minutes). Enter 20 seconds for users who tend to try to switch all appliances off or want to reduce electricity usage.
Please enter a number from 1 to 3600.
  • The duration of inactivity (in seconds) before the screensaver starts. Default: 180 seconds. Set this to about 20 seconds for users who tend to try to switch all appliances off. If you do NOT want a screensaver, then set this to 0.
Please enter a number from 0 to 3600.
  • The Videophone screen can be set to go blank (completely dark) overnight. This is useful if the user sleeps in the same room as the Videophone. It also helps somewhat to preserve the life of the screen, if you did not select Screensaver above.
