The Konnekt–Telstra Captioning Videophone Program aims to provide an equitable phone service to people who are deaf or hard-of-hearing, and who are either care-home residents or already have a Telstra phone service.
Below are example Telstra and Belong phone plans that have been used by some of our Program participants and that met the Program’s eligibility criteria. These include mobile options, a landline service, and a home phone with Internet bundle.
Please note: Telstra and Belong may update their plans at any time. These examples are provided for reference only.
1. Belong Mobile Plan
Belong is a division of Telstra that offers budget-friendly plans. This is a mobile option used by participants who also use a mobile phone:
- Starting at $30/month
- No lock-in contract
- Includes calls, texts, and a data allowance
- You can keep your existing number
- You can order online
2. Telstra Pre-paid Mobile Casual Plan
A SIM-only option with limited usage:
- Starting at $39 every 186 days (around $6.50/month)
- Includes 95 minutes talk time, 120 texts, and 390MB of data
- No ongoing contract
3. Telstra Home Phone Essentials Plan (Landline)
Voice-only landline service used by some customers as a secondary phone or to retain an existing home number:
- Around $35–$50/month
- $10/month discount for Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card holders
- A $59 connection fee may apply (ask Telstra — this is sometimes waived)
You can ask customer service for the Telstra Home Phone Essentials Plan. It may not be listed online, so it’s best to contact Telstra directly.
You can book an appointment or find a store via Telstra Store Locator, call Telstra on 13 20 00, or talk to them online by clicking the chat box near the bottom-right on this page.
4. Telstra Home Phone + Internet Bundle
Plan used by participants who also access the Internet at home for other purposes:
- Around $65–$85/month
- Voice plus broadband data
- Discount available for concession card holders
- Ask Telstra for low-cost bundles for seniors
How to Check if You Have Telstra Internet
Sometimes, participants assume they have an Internet plan with Telstra, but actually only have a voice-only landline. Here’s how to check:
- Look at your Telstra bill for the words “Internet,” “Broadband,” or “monthly data”
- If your monthly recurring charge is $50 or less, it is likely a voice-only service
- If the charge is $60 or more, it may include Internet
