Videophone helps save a life
Konnekt video phone assisted me to visualize my Mum, I am pretty certain my Mum would have died a very horrible death in her unit within 24-48 hours — Cheryl Kolff, daughter, Australia
Cheryl was overseas in the USA. Her mother Judy was suffering from a life-threatening bowel obstruction, but dementia prevented her from verbalizing her pain. Konnekt Videophone with auto-answer allowed Cheryl to see how unwell her Mum was, comfort her, and talk face-to-face with paramedics.
Now, Sandy can monitor and encourage her mom to drink water.
Mom’s dementia limits her comprehension. She can’t pick up a phone or push a button without someone telling her to do so. Konnekt has solved that problem with it’s auto-answer capability for selected contacts. Now, her face just lights up when she gets a call. Best of all, adequate water consumption is no longer a huge challenge. — Sandy Flohrs, daughter, MN USA
Already seeing improvements
I am delighted with your innovative product and very grateful for the improvements that I am already seeing in Norma (she has significant cognitive decline). — Amanda Hill, daughter, Malaysia

Frequently Asked Questions
Does it require Internet or a phone line?
Videophone works with any Internet connection – including DSL, cable, optical, and cellular mobile – via Wi-Fi or LAN cable. We can even set it up so that it automatically connects to your Wi-Fi when you turn it on. Nothing for you to configure!
Videophone uses hardly any data. We can help you with the best Internet deals and advise on how to prevent wireless deadspots in the home.
Videophone is designed to be extremely reliable, and we manage it so that nobody needs to attend.
Why don’t I just get a tablet?
Look, we love our own tablets, and they’re fantastic for younger seniors. Many of our customers first try a tablet before they find us. Our customers tell us that for their parents, even seniors tablets are too small, not loud enough, difficult to learn and too hard to use.
Videophone is fixed securely to a table or wall-mounted. Therefore it can’t be lost, misplaced, stolen, or taken to a place where the wireless signal is not strong. It is always where you expect it to be. No fiddly chargers, cables, connectors or stands. It can never be left where you can’t hear it ring, to go flat and gather dust.
Does it call regular phones?
Yes. We include unlimited video calls, unlimited calls to regular* phone numbers, perpetual software updates, and IT support for the user and all Contacts. All additions and changes to Contacts and preferences are done by us, remotely, without anyone needing to visit.
Videophone can also have its own phone number, so that elderly friends who have no Smartphone or computer/tablet can call in.
Is it complicated to set-up?
No. We set up everything for you and personalize your Videophone before we deliver. We discuss all the options, so you get the benefits of our enormous experience.
You do not have to be physically present. Videophone just needs to be unboxed and plugged into power.
We handle all later additions and changes for you, remotely, without anyone needing to visit. For example, we can add a call button for a grandson, set the volume higher, or make the screen go black at night.
How easy is it to use?
The Videophone is extremely easy to use. One touch to connect face-to-face or answer a call. But if even that is too much, there is even an auto-answer feature: Trusted callers can check-in visually, during emergencies or when there’s no answer, in case their loved one has fallen or fallen ill.
Videophone has a large 15-inch screen, 6-inch buttons, enormous text, and high-contrast colours. It has EXTRA-LOUD twin real speakers, and an optional powered SUPER-loud speaker. The buttons are pressure-sensitive – you can use a telescopic pointer, gloved hand, prosthetic, anything – unlike a tablet or mobile phone.
Konnekt personalises the contacts, volume, colours, auto-answer, and more, based on your needs. The button layout and size are totally flexible, tailored for each user.
We have options for those with limited mobility. We can supply a big red button that sits beside the bed or chair. Simply hit that button to make or answer a call.
We also have many options for those with hearing loss, low vision, memory loss or a learning difficulty.
There’s no login, no password, no menus. No keyboard or mouse, and nothing to hold. There is nothing to remember, making it ideal for those with memory loss or a learning difficulty. It doesn’t even need to be switched on. We’ve thought of everything!
Is it available in my country?
Yes. We have customers in the United States, Canada, Australia, Asia, UK, Europe and Africa. A typical delivery to the USA takes 2-3 business days.
Is it compatible with other apps?
Many of you use other apps such as FaceTime, WhatsApp and Facebook. We understand. We do too.
Konnekt evaluated and compared over 20 video-calling systems. Skype is the video-calling technology of choice.
Many of you used Skype years ago, on a PC or an older mobile phone. Skype has vastly improved. It runs impressively smoothly. It works even on the worst Internet connections. There are apps for every device, free to download and use, including iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux.
Skype is bullet-proof reliable. Microsoft invests heavily in the apps and worldwide server infrastructure. Skype uses little data and reconnects automatically after short outages.
Skype screen-sharing lets you share not only photos but anything, such as a browser window or Facebook page, while you talk. Those with deafness use Skype for captions and lip-reading. The Video Relay Service selected Skype as the basis for its sign-language translation service.
Don’t use Skype? Don’t worry. We’ll help all of you use Skype and optimise call quality.
If you’re still not convinced then contact us, and we’ll tell you in detail why Skype is the best choice.
Will it work for my parent? Really?
We know what you’re thinking. Your parent struggles with TV remotes and mobile phones. How could they use a video phone?
Videophone has BIG text, HUGE buttons, and can be SUPER loud. There are access buttons for poor mobility. We can even help you with voice-to-text (captioning).
Most of our users are aged between 80-100, and suffer from memory loss, poor hearing/vision, shaky hands or a mobility impairment. There’s nothing to learn or remember — and that makes it a success with seniors.
There are dozens of simple things, like our option to disable the power button so it can’t be switched off by mistake. We have experience with hundreds of different dementia patients.
Over 95% of our trials are a success.
I live interstate. What if something goes wrong?
Many of our users live interstate or overseas from their family, so it’s essential that Videophone simply keeps working.
The Videophone restarts every night. It reconnects automatically after Wi-Fi or Internet problems. Clever built-in diagnostics and remote trouble-shooting tools help Videophone stay connected, and help us anticipate and correct problems before you notice. Any changes needed, including volume, are made remotely without anyone needing to visit.
Konnekt’s IT experts can call or chat to you or with your nominated contact, anywhere in the world, to assist with any issues with your Internet or to help you achieve astoundingly good video and audio call quality.
